Levin Hearings Pave the Way for a New Glass-Steagall

April 28, 2010 -- The hearings held today under the direction of Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan revealed, to some extent, the corruption of Goldman Sachs. This corruption has been systemic, and is continuing, and would NOT be prevented by the phony financial regulation bill introduced by Sen. Dodd.

Dodd's bill is not intended to enact real regulation, as Dodd -- like Barney Frank -- has been an unabashed defender of the freedom of banks and insurance companies to loot the American people.

The only way to stop the ongoing corrupt, even criminal, activities of Goldman Sachs, et.al., is through immediate implementation of the Glass Steagall legislation enacted during the early days of the administration of Franklin Roosevelt. My policy, the LaRouche Plan, includes a global Glass-Steagall banking reorganization, and the establishment of a credit system for investment in the physical economy.

To enforce the character of the needed Glass-Steagall legislation, any legitimate bill would establish, as a preamble, a constitutional intention to end speculation, and re-establish a Constitutional credit system. Under this, the Federal Reserve would be outlawed and put through bankruptcy. Derivative transactions would be outlawed, because all investments would be connected to developing physical processes. Any sane economist knows, speculation akin to that of recent London-Wall St. operations, is devastating to a functioning physical economy.

We are at this point of collapse because of the shift over recent decades from a physical to a monetary economy. Now that shift must be reversed. We must assert an intention to advance the productive power of our economy and our citizens, to colonize the Moon and Mars, and to construct the necessary infrastructure to carry out that mission. A reinvigorated Army Corp of Engineers would lead the construction of this infrastructure.

I stood against this Wall St. system, and I will continue to do so. Stand behind my fight for the LaRouche Plan, and we can restore the true foundation of this nation once again.
